MSIT to hold “Korea Science & Technology Fair 2023”

- The “Korea Science & Technology Fair 2023” offers an opportunity to experience advanced high-end technology.

 

- Opportunities to be provided to experience the high-tech and future technologies that will reshape the world and to recognize the importance of science and technology.

 

 

 

The "Korea Science & Technology Fair 2023", hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT (Minister Lee Jong-ho, hereinafter referred to as "MSIT") and co-hosted by the National Research Foundation of Korea (Chairman Lee Kwang-bok) and the National Research Council of Science and Technology (Chairman Kim Bok-chul), will be held at the Gwacheon National Science Museum in Gwacheon, Gyeonggi-do for four days from November 9th (Thursday) to 12th (Sunday).

 

 

 

The fair, which will be held under the theme of "World-changing Science and Technology of Korea" plans to exhibit R&D achievements by science and technology sector to mark the 60th anniversary of national R&D investment, and will present the vision and role of Korea, which has become one of the world's best and most advanced countries in the field of science and technology.

 

 

 

The event consists of a variety of programs, including exhibitions of excellent research results, forums, seminars, public science lectures, opening ceremonies linked to cutting-edge technologies such as hologram congratulatory speeches, and science camp zones for family visitors so that people can experience scientific and technological achievements and recognize the importance of science and technology.

 

 

 

[Exhibitions] 50 institutions, including research institutes and scientific and cultural organizations, universities, and companies, will participate in the fair, and advanced science and technology, key technology, and institutional performance will be presented at the center hall of the science museum, a permanent exhibition space, and an outdoor temporary exhibition space, respectively.

 

 

 

At the Cutting-edge Technology Pavilion, state-of-the-art technology for the future, such as the Korea Pathfinder Lunar Orbiter Danuri, Korea Superconducting Tokamak Advanced Research (KSTAR), quantum computer models, and quadruped walking robots, as well as items participating in CES, North America's largest electronics exhibition, will be displayed in one place.

 

 

 

At the Flagship Technology Pavilion, the best achievements of technologies that will lead Korean economy building on technological prowess, such as basic science, semiconductors, displays, secondary batteries, advanced bio, new materials, quantum, and space, will be displayed.

 

 

 

In addition, key achievements of 23 government research institutes under MSIT, major project teams, and deep science startups, will be exhibited as well.

 

 

 

[Sideline events] The latest research trends and industry-academia-research institutes strategies will be discussed through the sessions such as Bio Future Forum that focuses on strategic technology in bio industries and Future Convergence Forum 2023 which aims to promote convergence research. The discussion of public-private consultative body on technology trends and business direction of next-generation secondary battery, the exhibition of leading research centers' achievements that led to the growth in basic research, and a key result sharing session of deep science startups that present successful cases with high-end R&D achievements will also be held.

 

 

 

[Awards ceremony] At the opening ceremony, 27 people* of merit, who devoted themselves to development of science and technology, will be awarded to boost researchers' morale and inspire research motivation.

 

 

 

* Korean Science Award and Engineering Award (President's Award to be given to 4 winners), Young Scientist Award (President's Award, 4 winners), Science and Technology Award of the Month (Minister's Award, 6 winners), AI-driven New Drug Development  Competition Winner (Minister's Award), Merit for Nano and Materials (Minister's Award, 10 winners), Nano Device Contest Winners (Minister Award, 2 winners)

 

 

 

The 1st Vice Minister Cho Seong-Kyung of MSIT stated, "In the 21st century, science and technology have become the most crucial element of a country's economy, security and reorganization of the world order," adding, "I hope that many people will visit the fair to experience and witness the past, present, and future of Korea's leading technologies at the forefront of technological transformation in the era of pursuing technological hegemony."
